Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced on Saturday that the Noida International Airport located in Jewar—which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—is set to become a significant center for job creation, investment, and economic development. This initiative is expected to benefit not only Uttar Pradesh but the entire nation.
During the inauguration ceremony attended by PM Modi, Naidu expressed that this occasion is a proud moment for the entire country and emphasized that the airport will greatly enhance the development of the region.
"This marks a moment of great joy not just for Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, or the Delhi-NCR region, but for the whole nation," he stated, adding that the National Capital Region has gained 'another heartbeat' with the establishment of this new airport.
The first phase of the project, developed at an estimated cost of around ₹11,200 crore, includes a four-kilometer-long runway designed for international operations, according to the minister.
Naidu highlighted that the terminal's design embodies the cultural identity and heritage of Uttar Pradesh, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision of merging development with tradition.
The project is being designed as an integrated 'aerotropolis', complete with cargo infrastructure to facilitate local products reaching both national and international markets.
Further, he pointed out the forthcoming Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, which will span 40 acres and is anticipated to generate numerous job opportunities for local youth in the aviation sector.
"Previously, residents of Jewar and surrounding areas had to travel to Delhi for employment. Now, people from across the nation and beyond will come to Jewar for job opportunities," he remarked.
The minister elaborated that the airport would foster opportunities across a wide range of sectors including ground handling, cargo, maintenance, security, hospitality, logistics, transportation, tourism, and agriculture.
He also underscored the improvements in air connectivity in recent years, mentioning that initiatives like the UDAN scheme have made air travel more accessible to the public and will continue to drive growth in the aviation sector.
According to Naidu, the airport will redefine Jewar's image as a key hub for investment and employment and is hailed as a historic milestone for India’s aviation landscape.
