Joint Forces Detain Two Terror Associates with Weapons in Sopore, J&K

Srinagar, Dec 22 (NationPress) Joint forces apprehended two terror associates in the Sopore region of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, according to officials.

The officials revealed that a coordinated operation involving the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and J&K Police led to the arrest of the two individuals on Saturday in the Dangiwacha locality of Sopore sub-division, where a cache of arms and ammunition was seized.

“During a thorough search operation, a unified team from the 32 RR, 92 Battalion of CRPF, and J&K Police apprehended two individuals in the Dangiwacha area of Sopore sub-division. They have been identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat and Sajad Ismail Hurra. A pistol, five 9mm rounds, two grenades, and Rs 10,600 in cash were confiscated from their possession,” officials stated.

Security forces have launched an intense campaign against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has instructed the security forces to take decisive action against the terror ecosystem to eradicate it completely from the union territory.

This directive from the Lt Governor followed a series of brutal attacks executed by terrorists shortly after the peaceful, participatory Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in the UT.

On October 20, two terrorists, including a foreign mercenary and a local militant, opened fire indiscriminately within the workers' camp of an infrastructure company located in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district.

The Gagangir terror attack resulted in the tragic deaths of seven civilians, which included six non-local workers and a local doctor.

On October 24, terrorists ambushed an army vehicle in the Botapathri region near the Gulmarg ski resort, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and two civilian porters.

On November 2, terrorists threw a grenade at the bustling Sunday Market close to the tourist reception centre (TRC) in Srinagar. This assault led to the death of a woman, a mother of three, and left nine other civilians injured.
