Jammu, Dec 4 (NationPress) A combined search operation commenced on Wednesday after a loud explosion-like noise was reported in the town of Surankote, located in Jammu and Kashmir.

In recent months, there has been a notable increase in terrorist activities within the union territory, particularly after the peaceful and people-participative Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections.
In response, security forces, police, and the army have intensified their operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers, and sympathizers.
The majority of these terrorist incidents have been concentrated in the Jammu division, affecting districts such as Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Udhampur.
Some of these heinous attacks have targeted unarmed innocent civilians.
On Tuesday, security forces eliminated a highly sought-after Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Junaid Ahmad Bhat, from the Qaimoh area of Kulgam district.
Bhat was implicated in the murders of seven civilians in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district on October 20, which included six non-workers from an infrastructure company and a local doctor.
On November 2, terrorists launched a grenade attack at the bustling Sunday market near the tourist reception centre (TRC) in Srinagar city.
A 42-year-old woman from Bandipora district, named Abida, was killed, and nine other civilians sustained injuries in the explosion.
Subsequently, police apprehended three locals from the Ikhrajpora area of Srinagar city who executed the grenade attack under the instructions of LeT terror handlers situated across the border.
Terrorists also ambushed an army vehicle on October 24 in the Botapathri area of Gulmarg, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and two civilian porters working for the army.
As part of a comprehensive crackdown on various terrorist networks, including those affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), police have been conducting extensive search operations across the Jammu region.
Recently, raids were executed at 56 locations across four districts in the Jammu region. This large-scale operation led to the arrest of several over-ground workers and terror suspects, in addition to the recovery of incriminating materials such as electronic devices, documents, unaccounted cash, weapons, and ammunition.
