Territorial Army Soldier Injured in Terror Attack in Tral, J&K

Srinagar, Dec 4 (NationPress) A soldier from the Territorial Army (TA) was shot and wounded by terrorists in the Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday, according to officials.

The incident took place in the Sofigund Aripal village of Tral tehsil in Pulwama.

"Terrorists fired upon a TA soldier outside his home in Sofigund Aripal village this evening. The injured soldier, identified as Delhair Mushtaq, was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Medical professionals reported that he sustained an injury to his leg, but his condition is stable," an official stated.

The area has been sealed off for search operations.

Officials indicated that the soldier was on leave at the time of the assault.

In recent months, there has been a noticeable uptick in terrorist activities in J&K, particularly following the peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Intelligence sources suggest that the successful elections in J&K have increased pressure on the terrorist handlers across the border, prompting them to direct terrorists to assert their presence.

This surge in terrorist activity has targeted the army, security personnel, police, and civilians alike. In response, security forces have launched an aggressive campaign to eliminate terrorism from the Union Territory.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has issued explicit directives to security forces to exhaust all efforts in dismantling the terrorism ecosystem by focusing on terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers. He has been actively chairing security review meetings to oversee various anti-terror operations across J&K. Initially, the terrorists targeted the Jammu division, affecting districts such as Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Kathua, Poonch, and Udhampur. However, in the past two months, attacks have also occurred in the Valley.
