Significant Anti-Terror Campaign Launched in Akhnoor Sector Along LoC in J&K

Jammu, Jan 11 (NationPress) Security forces reported on Saturday that a significant anti-terror campaign has commenced along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K's Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.

After receiving information regarding the movement of three to four suspected terrorists in the Jogwan forest area of Akhnoor sector, a large-scale anti-terror operation was launched by the security forces. Locals had informed the police about having spotted armed individuals in the vicinity on Thursday. Consequently, the region was cordoned off, and the anti-terror operation began there,” officials stated.

Security forces have initiated a vigorous campaign against terrorists, their over ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has instructed the security forces to take decisive action against the terror ecosystem to eradicate it entirely from J&K.

The orders from the Lt Governor were issued following a series of heinous attacks by terrorists shortly after the peaceful, community-involved Lok Sabha and legislative Assembly elections in the Union Territory.

On October 20, 2024, two terrorists, one a foreign mercenary and the other a local, opened fire indiscriminately within the workers' camp of an infrastructure company in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district. This attack resulted in the deaths of seven civilians, including six non-local workers and a local doctor.

On October 24, three army soldiers and two civilian porters lost their lives after terrorists ambushed an army vehicle in the Botapathri area of the Gulmarg ski resort.

On November 2 of last year, terrorists threw a grenade at the bustling Sunday Market close to the tourist reception center (TRC) in Srinagar, leading to the death of a woman who was a mother of three, and injuring nine other civilians.
