New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday accused the Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP of tarnishing Punjab's reputation by branding it as “Udta Punjab” during their respective administrations.

Kejriwal directed his criticisms at the opposing parties while highlighting the Punjab government's ongoing initiatives to address the drug crisis and pledged to intensify actions against drug traffickers within the state.

Via the social media platform X, Kejriwal stated, "Our Punjab government has initiated a vigorous campaign against drugs. In the upcoming phase, we will target the major drug traffickers. Not a single dealer or supplier will escape punishment. Under the leadership of the Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP, Punjab was disparaged with the term ‘Udta Punjab’. Now, the community is uniting for ‘Transforming Punjab’.

This declaration follows the Punjab government’s sustained anti-drug mission, which has been actively operational since March 1, 2025.

In a related update, Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) also shared insights on X about the progress of the anti-drug campaign.

The DGP remarked, "Our War on Drugs is Gaining Momentum! Since March 1, 2025, under the Punjab Govt’s anti-drug initiative: 2248 FIRs filed, 4000 arrests executed, and substantial drug seizures achieved. The availability of drugs on the streets has notably diminished, and a new approach is being implemented to sever supply chains from rural areas to urban centers! Stringent actions will be taken against suppliers and distributors. CPs & SSPs have been instructed to undertake prompt legal actions within a week."

The government’s initiatives seem to be yielding positive outcomes, as there has been a marked decrease in street-level drug availability and a fresh strategy aimed at disassembling supply networks.

Kejriwal's comments are part of his broader initiative to showcase his administration's dedication to enhancing law enforcement and restoring Punjab's reputation.

Attention will now be directed towards larger suppliers and distributors, with Kejriwal emphasizing that no individual will be exempt in this battle against drugs.
