Itanagar, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, emphasized on Sunday that the tribal communities must confront the existing challenges with maturity, understanding, and mutual respect.
Speaking at the Adi-Apatani Summit-2025 in Pasighat, where a joint declaration was signed by Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and Tanii Supun Dukun (TSD), the premier organizations of the Adi and Apatani communities, he pointed out that while the Adis and Apatanis differ geographically and possess unique traditions, they share a long-standing connection that transcends political divisions and is rooted in their shared ancestry, stretching back to the era of Abotani.
He cautioned that in today’s world, even minor differences could escalate into conflicts if not carefully managed.
"We cannot let trivial misunderstandings or rumors disturb the harmony that we have cultivated over generations. We must tackle these challenges with maturity, understanding, and mutual respect," stated Khandu.
The inaugural Adi-Apatani Summit, held in Pasighat, witnessed the signing of a joint declaration aimed at fostering and reinforcing the historic bonds of community, unity, and peaceful coexistence, while promoting social and cultural exchanges as well as collaborative efforts between both communities.
The Chief Minister praised the ABK and TSD for setting a commendable example for the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh.
By uniting to endorse this significant Joint Declaration, CM Khandu noted that both communities have reaffirmed their dedication to peace, unity, and the ongoing welfare of their people.
"This declaration is more than just a document - it is a living embodiment of the enduring values of love, respect, and mutual trust that have characterized both the Adi and Apatani cultures for generations," he added.
The resolutions outline clear principles for peaceful coexistence and the maintenance of communal harmony.
"The agreement to jointly reject and discourage any communal conflicts or violence, whether stemming from personal matters or not, showcases the maturity and wisdom of both communities," Khandu remarked.
In a heartfelt message to the youth, the Chief Minister stated: "You are the custodians of the values we cherish. It is through your actions, your respect for one another’s cultures, and your readiness to embrace diversity that Arunachal Pradesh will truly shine as a beacon of unity and progress. Let the actions of the Adi and Apatani communities motivate you to collaborate, learn from each other, and contribute to the greater welfare of our society."
