Is Khesari Lal Stepping Back from Politics After His Defeat?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 10 (NationPress) Bhojpuri actor and former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Khesari Lal Yadav has suggested that he may distance himself from the political arena following his loss in the Chhapra constituency during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
In an interview with the media in Patna, Khesari shared several honest reflections on electoral politics, the significance of truth in public life, and the recent controversies surrounding Bhojpuri actors and political figures.
When asked about the reasons for the RJD’s defeat, Khesari remarked, “I believe everyone is aware of the reason for the defeat. The entirety of Bihar knows why it occurred.”
While he chose not to delve deeper, he implied that the outcome was something the public comprehended.
In response to inquiries about Bhojpuri singer-actor Pawan Singh, who was seen celebrating a birthday with a woman while apparently intoxicated, Khesari questioned the BJP’s position.
“That’s his way of life. Does he have respect for women? No, he doesn’t. Yet, the BJP is providing him with protection. That’s his life, his business, and his party. I have no involvement in it,” Khesari Lal Yadav stated.
He emphasized that everyone chooses their own lifestyle, saying: “He lives his life his way. I live my life my way. I know who is who.”
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the political landscape, Khesari indicated a preference for remaining an artist.
“I believe I’m more suited as an artist. Politics is not meant for individuals like us. The issue here is that speaking the truth becomes a challenge. Anyone who speaks the truth cannot progress very far in politics,” he expressed.
He further commented: “If you’re adept at making false promises, then politics is your field. If you aim to deceive the world, then politics is the right place for you.”
Regarding the electoral results, Khesari placed some blame on the voters.
“The people of Bihar seem uninterested in change. They don’t seek improvement. Therefore, no single leader or party can be solely blamed,” Yadav stated.
He added that citizens need to reflect on their decisions.
“People must contemplate who can influence their lives and their children’s future. If they deem this situation acceptable, then so be it,” Yadav concluded.
In response to BJP leader and Bhojpuri actor Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’, who allegedly stated that Khesari wasn’t worthy of the BJP, Khesari dismissed the comment.
“Whether I’m worthy of the BJP or not is not his judgment to make. He isn’t even the party president and likely doesn’t know how many offers I’ve received from the BJP,” he stated.
On the recent framing of charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family in the land-for-jobs case, Khesari remarked: “They should certainly fight. At their age, such issues should not be occurring. As for what Lalu Prasad Yadav has contributed to Bihar, people should inquire in the villages.”
He concluded with a broader observation on power and politics: “If you wield power, you can accuse anyone of anything. Even legitimate actions can be deemed illegal if the government is not supportive.”
