Hyderabad, Aug 10 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to the Telangana government to adopt the Ayushman Bharat scheme initiated by the Central government. This request was made during the inauguration of the Telangana Marketing and Distribution Warehouse under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana on Sunday.
In collaboration with Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, he inaugurated the new facility at Lorven Pharma and Surgicals located in Uppal.
Kishan Reddy emphasized that this facility would enhance the distribution of affordable and quality medicines, thereby boosting the operations of Jan Aushadhi Kendras throughout Telangana.
The Union Minister remarked that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives like Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana and Ayushman Bharat have empowered the economically disadvantaged by significantly reducing their medical expenses and ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone.
Kishan Reddy criticized the previous government led by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for neglecting the Ayushman Bharat scheme and expressed hope that the current Congress government, under Revanth Reddy, would implement this important central initiative in Telangana.
He highlighted that the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana offers health coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh for senior citizens aged 70 and above, irrespective of their income.
Furthermore, he noted that medicines available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras are priced 50 to 90 percent lower than those found in the market.
The Union Minister reiterated that the government led by Prime Minister Modi prioritizes public health.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma expressed satisfaction with the launch of the marketing and distribution warehouse, describing it as a significant advancement towards making quality healthcare both affordable and accessible for every citizen in Telangana.
He labeled the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana as a transformative initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the high costs of branded medicines and the healthcare requirements of the populace.
