Kolkata, June 27 (NationPress) The images of Monojit Mishra, one of the three suspects tied to the sexual assault of a law student on college grounds, have begun to spread on social media. These images show him with prominent Trinamool Congress figures, and they have been widely circulated by state BJP leaders.
Among the Trinamool Congress leaders featured in the photographs with Mishra are the party's General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Chandrima Bhattacharya, the West Bengal Minister of State for Finance (independent charge), and Kajari Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress Councillor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and sister-in-law to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Amit Malviya, Chief of the BJP's IT Cell and the party's central observers for West Bengal, alongside the Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, have been actively sharing these images on their official X accounts, criticizing the Trinamool Congress regarding this matter.
“OUTRAGEOUS! Monojit Mishra, a key suspect in the heinous gang-rape of a college student in Kasba, has direct connections with the most influential members of the Trinamool Congress. Alarming reports indicate that college authorities were told to lock the gates while the crime unfolded! Who granted Monojit such immunity? Who protected him? This transcends a simple crime; it is a cover-up of the highest order. The TMC is a party of rapists and their protectors,” stated Malviya, as he shared the images featuring Mishra alongside Trinamool Congress leaders.
LoP Adhikari also shared an image of Mishra with Abhishek Banerjee, commenting: “The empire of crime wasn’t established overnight; it has flourished in the company of various wrongdoers!!!”
In response, Kunal Ghosh, the General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress, argued that the image of Mishra holds no weight, recalling instances where top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, were photographed with individuals later accused of sexual offenses.
“This occurs with public figures. If the Trinamool Congress must justify these images, then the BJP should also be accountable for similar cases,” Ghosh stated.
Simultaneously, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Jadavpur Division, under the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police, released a statement urging the public to avoid disseminating unverified and misleading information on social media regarding the incident.
