Kota Welcomes Newborn Girls: LS Speaker Om Birla's Vision

Jaipur, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Kota-Bundi region in Rajasthan is poised to serve as a model for economic self-sufficiency and social security for girl children, according to Speaker Om Birla. This statement was made during the inauguration of the third phase of the Suposhit Maa Abhiyan at the Chhappan Bhog location on Friday.
He emphasized that comprehensive arrangements will be established for girls' education, ranging from primary to higher studies, enabling them to become self-sufficient.
Birla articulated, "When daughters achieve financial independence, it strengthens the entire family. We are committed to providing them with both economic and social support, encompassing everything from their education to their marriage."
The Speaker further remarked that a mother represents not just life but also immense compassion, love, and sacrifice. "Caring for her health is akin to a sacred duty. In this third phase, our goal is to reach out to every woman from underprivileged backgrounds in society and ensure they receive proper nourishment. This initiative, which began five years ago with community support, aims to secure adequate nutrition for pregnant women and safeguard their unborn children. I am pleased to report that the first two phases yielded positive outcomes, benefiting over 15,000 mothers and sisters," he stated.
Birla also highlighted that a pregnant woman often prioritizes her family's needs, embodying values of sacrifice and dedication. "We will not only care for their health but also empower all women economically and socially. I envision a future where these sisters become self-reliant. We will equip them with skills through training and provide them with employment opportunities at home via self-help groups," he added.
Diya Kumari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, remarked that the Lok Sabha Speaker initiated the Suposhit Maa Abhiyan not merely as a public representative but as a dedicated public servant, setting a unique precedent for service.
She stated, "When a pregnant woman receives appropriate nutrition and health services, it paves the way for not only a healthy baby but also lays the groundwork for a prosperous future. Such initiatives are crucial in realizing our vision of transforming Rajasthan into a developed state and India into a developed nation. Ensuring the empowerment and health of mothers, who are the foundation of our society, is our state's priority."
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed her intention to urge the Chief Minister to establish a specialized scheme for women modeled after the Suposhit Maa Abhiyan.
"A thriving and empowered society is essential to fulfill PM Modi's vision of a developed India, and such initiatives are pivotal to achieving this aim. The Prime Minister's commendation of this campaign reflects its inspirational impact across the country," Kumari noted.
Kalpana Devi, MLA from Ladpura, stated, "This initiative to enhance women's conditions in the Kota-Bundi region has become a beacon of inspiration nationally. Such social upliftment efforts inspire all public representatives. Today, thousands of women are benefiting from this campaign. A healthy mother and child bring joy to the entire family and contribute to building a robust society."
Sandeep Sharma, MLA from Kota South, mentioned, "There was a period when the premature death of newborns was a grave concern in the city. However, the Lok Sabha Speaker initiated a program to nourish all women in Kota-Bundi. This campaign has transformed into a remarkable example of public involvement. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of public representatives, doctors, social workers, and intellectuals, healthy children are being born in the region, and the infant mortality rate has significantly decreased."
Both Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Deputy CM Diya Kumari commenced this campaign by distributing nutrition kits to pregnant women.
Over 1,500 pregnant women from underprivileged families have been identified to receive free nutrition kits, along with monthly health check-ups and consultations until delivery.
To guarantee that women obtain essential nutrition and a balanced diet during pregnancy, a 12.5 kg nutrition kit has been formulated based on the guidance of expert doctors and nutritionists.
The monthly kit for beneficiaries includes 1 kg moong laddu made from desi ghee, 3 kg wheat flour, 1 kg maize flour, and 1 kg millet flour, among other items.
Health cards have also been created for continuous monitoring of women's health, enabling them to maintain their well-being during the follow-up camps organized each month.
