Jamnagar, Nov 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, has officially opened the longest flyover in Saurashtra, located in Jamnagar, with a construction cost exceeding Rs 226 crore.

This impressive four-lane elevated corridor, measuring 3,750 metres, connects the well-known Subhash Bridge to Saat Rasta Circle, serving as a significant enhancement to the city’s infrastructure and providing much-needed relief from persistent traffic congestion at crucial junctions.

Engineered to improve connectivity, the flyover is set to greatly facilitate travel towards Dwarka, Reliance, Nayara, GSFC, and Rajkot Road.

The areas surrounding Nagnath Junction, Grain Market, Bedi Gate, and Three Darwaja have been notorious for heavy traffic, but the new route from Subhash Bridge to Saat Rasta Circle and then to Lal Bangla Circle is anticipated to offer commuters a more efficient and quicker travel experience.

City officials project that this development will alleviate traffic snarls, lower fuel consumption, and save precious time for thousands of daily travelers.

Furthermore, the project is notable for its public amenities designed within the space beneath the bridge.

Spanning 61 bays, this area features parking for over 1,200 vehicles, including 850 two-wheelers, 250 four-wheelers, 100 rickshaws, 100 other vehicles, and 26 buses. Additional facilities include pay-and-use toilets at four locations, a labour facilitation center, sports activity zones across ten bays, seating areas at four locations, and designated food zones, transforming the under-bridge area into a vibrant public space.

The inauguration event was graced by dignitaries such as Minister-in-Charge Arjun Modhwadia, Minister of State for Education Rivaba Jadeja, MP Poonam Madam, Mayor Vinod Khimsuriya, and various district and municipal officials, as well as MLAs.

The newly launched flyover is poised to revolutionize urban mobility in Jamnagar, enhancing the quality of life and bolstering the city’s developmental trajectory. In recent years, Jamnagar has seen significant improvements in connectivity through major upgrades to its road, rail, and industrial transport infrastructures.

The city now boasts improved links to essential destinations such as Rajkot, Dwarka, Reliance, and Nayara refinery zones, GSFC, along with major national highways. Enhanced under-bridge facilities, increased parking availability, and better access routes have fortified intra-city mobility, while ongoing rail enhancements and proximity to critical ports underscore Jamnagar’s position as a burgeoning regional hub for industry, trade, and travel.
