Madhya Pradesh: BJP Vice-President Yogendra Solanki Charged with Rape

Bhopal, Dec 9 (NationPress) A significant political controversy erupted in Madhya Pradesh on Monday when Yogendra Solanki, the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Vidisha district, was charged with serious allegations of rape.

The police action followed a formal complaint by a woman who accused Solanki of sexually assaulting her on several occasions and threatening her with severe repercussions if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.

The victim, aged 23 and reportedly related to Solanki, filed her complaint at the Nateran police station in Vidisha, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) on Sunday.

Authorities stated that after the complaint was lodged, the woman underwent a medical examination that corroborated the claims of rape.

"An FIR has been filed following the medical report confirming the allegations of rape," a senior police official confirmed on Monday.

In the meantime, Solanki has resigned from both his party and his position, stating in his resignation letter to the BJP's district president in Vidisha that he has been falsely accused in this matter.

"I am resigning from the BJP and my position to facilitate a fair investigation, as I have been wrongfully implicated in a rape case," Solanki's resignation letter stated.

In reaction to the unfolding situation, Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Jitu Patwari criticized the BJP, claiming that despite the serious nature of the charges, the BJP is attempting to protect Solanki.

"The victim has informed the police that Yogendra Solanki has been harassing and sexually abusing her for an extended period. Yet, he remains unarrested. The BJP government is trying to shield him," Patwari alleged.

However, BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh have chosen not to comment on the issue.

It is noteworthy that the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat is currently held by the BJP's prominent figure and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
