Patna, March 28 (NationPress) In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Patna Police have dismantled a substantial narcotics syndicate, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of over 21 kg of smack, valued at around Rs 25 crore in the international market.
This operation took place under the jurisdiction of Alamganj Police Station based on precise intelligence received on March 27.
A specialized raiding team was formed, overseen by City SP (East) Parichay Kumar.
During the initial raid at Royal Green Apartment in the Alamganj neighborhood, authorities discovered 1.681 kg of processed brown sugar, Rs 2.15 lakh in cash, seven mobile devices, and a tempo used for transporting the drugs.
Following the interrogation of the detained suspects, a secondary raid was executed at a property in Khemni Chak under the Ramkrishnanagar Police Station.
From this location, officials recovered a significant amount of narcotics, which included 16 kg of smack (in both stone and powder forms) along with 3.5 kg of a cutting agent. Additionally, various drug processing equipment, such as a mixer-grinder and three digital weighing machines, were seized, as well as bank cheques and other incriminating evidence.
In total, the operation yielded 21.181 kg of smack.
According to Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, approximately 1.6 kg was seized from Alamganj, while the remaining quantity was obtained from the Ramkrishnanagar area.
The arrested suspects, named Jitendra Kumar and Nitish Kumar, are presently undergoing interrogation.
Authorities noted that both individuals have prior criminal records and were previously incarcerated in a drug trafficking case involving a seizure of 9 kg of smack about five years ago, indicating an ongoing organized operation.
In a notable twist, a police constable, Rishikesh Kumar, has emerged as a person of interest in the investigation. He has reportedly been absent from his duties for the last eight to nine months.
Initial findings suggest his involvement in the drug trade for nearly two years, and actions are underway to apprehend him.
Additionally, police confiscated firearms, including a pistol and a country-made katta, alongside a magazine and eight cheques, two of which are allegedly connected to police personnel.
