Amaravati, Oct 3 (NationPress) A delegation from Malaysia has shown a strong interest in investing between Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore in the capital of Andhra Pradesh over the next five years.
The Malaysian team, which included Selangor State Minister Papparaidu Veraman, Klang MP V. Ganabatirau, members of the Malaysia-Andhra Business Chamber, and several private sector representatives, had discussions with Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana this past Friday.
Since arriving in the state on October 1, the team toured Amaravati with Minister Narayana to observe the progress of various projects in the state capital.
Minister Papparaidu emphasized their commitment to collaborate with India for the development of Amaravati.
Several representatives, particularly those of Telugu heritage residing in Malaysia, presented their projects to Minister Narayana through a detailed PowerPoint presentation.
An official statement revealed that Malaysian firms are eager to invest in critical sectors such as education, tourism, hospitality, trade and commerce, real estate (including technology transfer and infrastructure development), and the promotion of Telugu culture.
The University of Cyberjaya has proposed establishing a medical university in Amaravati, while the Berjaya Group aims to construct several five-star hotels.
Minister Narayana provided the Malaysian representatives with an overview of ongoing development initiatives in Amaravati, asserting that the city is on track to become one of the top five capitals globally.
He highlighted that Amaravati is being developed systematically under the guidance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
He informed the Malaysian delegation that tenders for projects worth Rs 51,000 crore have been finalized, with construction already underway. He assured them that all work will be completed within the designated timelines.
Narayana stated the state government aims to finish 360 km of trunk roads in the capital within a year and a half, lay out 1,500 km of roads within two years, and construct 4,000 houses for officials, employees, and public representatives by the end of March next year.
He also expressed intentions to complete administrative buildings, including the Secretariat Towers, Assembly, and High Court, within the next two and a half years.
The minister mentioned that while recent rains had caused some delays, work is expected to accelerate in the coming days.
Present during the discussions were Municipal Department Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Commissioner Kannababu, and CRDA Additional Commissioner Bhargava Teja.
