New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi made a pointed remark on Sunday aimed at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, criticizing the posters that labeled him as a “hero” of Bihar. Manjhi stated that referring to an “incompetent” individual as a hero is a clear affront to the term itself.
Expressing his discontent on the social media platform X, Manjhi wrote in Hindi, “Calling an incompetent a hero is an insult to the word ‘hero’.”
Along with his post, Manjhi included a picture of the widely circulated poster featuring Yadav, which has been seen across Patna and other cities. The posters portray Yadav as a “youth icon” and “Bihar’s hero”, positioning him as the chief ministerial candidate for the opposition Mahagathbandhan ahead of the forthcoming state elections.
While allies of the NDA regarded Manjhi’s comments as a necessary “reality check”, insiders from the RJD dismissed it as a sign of frustration.
Earlier that day, Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, conducted a press conference in Patna, where he emphasized that the people of Bihar are ready for transformation. “The people of Bihar gave them (the BJP and NDA) 20 years. We are asking for just 20 months, and I have full confidence that this time the people will bring change,” Yadav asserted.
Detailing his party’s commitments, Yadav promised that a Mahagathbandhan government, if elected, would increase allowances for Panchayat and Gram Kachahri representatives and initiate a pension scheme for former representatives. “Together, the Mahagathbandhan will construct a new Bihar,” he stated, underscoring a vision focused on development and social welfare.
He reiterated his earlier pledges to regularize contractual workers, recalling that during his 17-month period as Deputy CM, substantial progress was made that others couldn’t achieve in 17 years. “If Chacha ji (Nitish Kumar) had not switched sides, all pending work would have been completed,” he mentioned.
Yadav confirmed ongoing discussions with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, stating that the joint manifesto of the Mahagathbandhan will be revealed soon. “We will come together and outline our vision for the people of Bihar shortly,” he asserted.
