Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mansa (Punjab), March 23 (NationPress) The Mansa district of Punjab has witnessed a significant upgrade in its infrastructure as the historic Mansa railway station, which dates back to 1911, has undergone a transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme initiated by the government. This redevelopment has introduced modern facilities for travelers after nearly a century.
The railway station has been revitalized and is now open to the public, although minor finishing touches are still in progress.
The focus of this redevelopment has been on enhancing passenger comfort by incorporating contemporary amenities and upgrading the station's overall infrastructure.
The newly transformed station boasts a modern architectural design, designated parking spaces, spacious waiting areas, lift access, a foot-over-bridge, Wi-Fi services, clean drinking water, and various other amenities aimed at improving the passenger experience.
It is important to note that the Mansa railway station was established around 1911, making it nearly 115 years old.
Over the years, while the city's population has steadily increased, the facilities at the railway station remained largely stagnant.
Thanks to the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station has now been modernized, joining several other railway stations across the nation in this transformation.
The newly constructed station building includes comfortable waiting rooms, a ticket counter, clean restrooms, and modern seating arrangements for travelers.
The platforms have been enhanced with LED lighting, and a foot-over-bridge along with lift facilities have been installed to ease movement between platforms one, two, and three.
Add to that, a large canteen has been established within the station area.
Additionally, designated parking spaces for vehicles and a well-organized waiting area for passengers have been developed.
To further enhance accessibility, authorities have also constructed a special park for differently-abled individuals outside the station.
Local residents have expressed their satisfaction with the station's transformation, noting that the redevelopment has significantly improved passenger facilities.
Residents like Pala S and Sunil Goyal shared with IANS that the station's previous condition was quite poor, but it has seen considerable improvement after the redevelopment.
Another resident, Jatinder Agra, remarked that the Mansa railway station, located on the Bathinda–Delhi line, was built approximately 115 years ago in 1911.
“After all these years, the station is now being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. Construction work has spanned about two-and-a-half years, resulting in a very modern facility as part of this redevelopment,” he added.
Another local, Rimpy, highlighted that the redevelopment has made a significant difference for commuters.
"This change is monumental, and the convenience has significantly increased. A great parking facility has been established at the station," he noted.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ongoing initiative by Indian Railways, launched in December 2022, aimed at redeveloping 1,275 stations across the country.
