Massive Surge in Demand for Khadi Garments in Samastipur Following PM Modi's Call

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to bolster the Khadi industry through product purchases, the Samastipur district in Bihar is experiencing a remarkable increase in demand for its offerings.
Recently, during his monthly radio broadcast 'Mann ki Baat', PM Modi encouraged citizens to invest in Khadi products.
Dhirendra Karji, a member of the Samastipur Sub-Divisional Khadi Village Industries Committee, informed IANS that Khadi is now available in a spectrum of colors.
He stated, "Khadi garments are being designed with the youth in mind. For the winter season, we are producing shawls and jackets. These products can be found at all Samastipur centers."
The price range for these products varies - with mufflers priced between Rs 300 to Rs 500, jackets from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000, and Kashmiri wool shawls ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000, he added.
Karji remarked, "Young people are flocking to Khadi shops to purchase vibrant jackets. I believe the interest among the youth has surged because previously, there were limited options. Now, the younger generation has a variety of designer Khadi garments to choose from."
Discussing the state of the Khadi business, he noted that it is thriving as young individuals continue to make purchases.
Local resident Anas Rizwan commented, "Khadi symbolizes Gandhiji's legacy. In the past, only older individuals wore Khadi, but now the youth are embracing it due to the availability of colorful garments. We encourage the youth to wear Khadi and carry forward Gandhiji's legacy."
Another local, Sanjit Kumar, added, "Previously, there was a misconception that Khadi garments had to be thick, but now they are also available in fine fabrics. The variety is attracting young people, and we hope they will increasingly choose these designer garments."
It is noteworthy that on July 28 during his 'Mann ki Baat' program, PM Modi stated, "There may be many among you who have not been wearing Khadi, but today, you wear it with pride. I am pleased to share that for the first time, Khadi Gramodyog's business has surpassed Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Sales of Khadi have surged by 400 percent. This interest in Khadi will also create job opportunities. I urge you to begin purchasing Khadi garments this year if you haven't already."
