Lucknow, April 9 (NationPress) Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday, claiming it has failed to uphold law and order in the state after a brutal triple homicide occurred in Fatehpur district.
In a statement on X, the former Chief Minister of UP remarked, “In Uttar Pradesh, occurrences of exploitation and oppression over trivial matters have become commonplace. Recently, in Fatehpur, three individuals from a Kshatriya/Thakur farming family and one Dalit person were viciously murdered, instilling widespread fear and panic among the local population.”
In a subsequent post, Mayawati called for immediate and stringent measures from the UP administration.
“The UP government must enforce strict legal consequences for the perpetrators to guarantee timely justice for the victims' families. Additionally, it must prioritize enhancing the overall law and order conditions in the state,” she insisted.
The tragic events unfolded on Tuesday morning in Akhri village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Hathgam police station, and are believed to stem from a long-standing political feud within the village.
Police reports indicate that a group of assailants, allegedly led by former village head Suresh Singh, also known as Munnu Singh, opened fire on Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) district vice-president Vinod Singh, known as Pappu Singh, along with his brother Anoop Singh (alias Pinku Singh) and Vinod's son Abhay Pratap Singh, resulting in their immediate deaths.
Authorities have arrested two suspects during an encounter in which both individuals sustained leg injuries and are currently receiving medical care at a local hospital.
The altercation reportedly began when former village head Suresh Kumar asked Pappu Singh to move his tractor, which was blocking the road, to allow his motorcycle to pass.
The situation escalated dramatically when Suresh Kumar’s sons began firing indiscriminately, leading to the deaths of Pappu Singh, Pinku Singh, and Abhay Pratap Singh.
