Meerut, March 28 (NationPress) In anticipation of Eid-ul-Fitr and the final Friday prayers of Ramzan, the Meerut Police have issued a stern caution against performing namaz on roadways, stating that offenders will face severe legal repercussions, which may include the cancellation of passports and revocation of driving licenses.
Meerut Superintendent of Police (City), Ayush Vikram Singh, stressed that Eid prayers should take place at local mosques or designated Eidgahs, and that no one should offer namaz on the roads.
Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Singh Chaudhary remarked, "If criminal charges are filed against individuals, their passports and licenses may be revoked, making it difficult to obtain a new passport without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the court. Such documents remain confiscated until individuals are cleared by the judiciary."
Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada indicated that meetings have been held at both the district and police station levels, and necessary guidelines have been established post discussions with all stakeholders.
"Stringent action will be enforced against anyone attempting to disseminate falsehoods or incite unrest through social media. We are vigilantly monitoring social media platforms, and any efforts to disrupt communal harmony will be addressed decisively," the SSP added.
To enhance security, personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed, with flag marches being conducted throughout the district, as stated by SSP Tada.
Sensitive areas have been pinpointed based on previous experiences, and special provisions have been arranged in those locations.
SSP Tada further highlighted that the administration is collaborating with notable citizens and religious leaders to ensure peace and facilitate a smooth observance of the forthcoming festivities.
To maintain law and order, Jayant Singh Chaudhary announced that drones will be utilized for aerial surveillance, while local intelligence teams are actively observing the situation.
Uniformed and undercover officers will also be present in all sensitive areas, he added.
The Meerut Police has warned that individuals breaching the directive may face cancellation of passports and driving licenses, with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the court necessary to secure a new passport.
