Srinagar, Oct 26 (NationPress) Senior National Conference (NC) leader and MP, Mian Altaf Ahmad, emphasized on Sunday that as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah is obligated to communicate with both responsibility and insight. Speaking at the 4th Halla Bolle conclave held at a local hotel in Srinagar, he remarked that it would be misleading to assert that Abdullah is on the right path.
He highlighted that it is crucial for Abdullah to articulate his thoughts with care, given his role as Chief Minister, as his remarks carry significant consequences.
Representing the Anantnag–Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad is recognized as a dominant religious and political figure within the Gujjar-Bakarwal community in Jammu and Kashmir.
At the conclave, he pointed out the lack of meaningful political or administrative advancements in Jammu and Kashmir since the new government took office.
“No constructive actions have been undertaken to address the political and administrative challenges in Jammu and Kashmir since this administration assumed control,” he stated.
Mian Altaf Ahmad also expressed his support for fellow NC MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who has been vocal about the alleged shortcomings of the NC government in fulfilling its commitments ahead of the 2024 elections.
“Omar Sahib needs to reflect and prioritize governance over mere rhetoric. He should understand the rights and limitations he possesses and how he can effectively serve the constituents who elected him,” he said.
“The political leadership in Kashmir seems absorbed in discussions about alignments with or opposition to the BJP, while the genuine concerns of the populace remain unaddressed.
“The Chief Minister should focus on the welfare of the people,” the senior NC leader asserted.
He criticized the administration for its failure to initiate a recruitment drive.
“Countless educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir are losing hope. Many hold postgraduate and Ph.D. degrees, yet recruitment has not commenced. This process should have begun on day one, with recruitment agencies issuing advertisements promptly,” he elaborated.
“While it is essential for elected representatives to advocate for public issues and fight for their rights, the political struggle should not stall progress for the people,” he added.
Mian Altaf Ahmad also responded firmly to remarks made by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who claimed ignorance about Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.
He asserted that everyone is aware of who Ruhullah is, and feigning ignorance will not diminish his credibility or popularity.
