Aizawl, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Assam Rifles have confiscated a substantial quantity of highly addictive methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs 16.65 crore in Mizoram's Champhai district, close to the border. A woman involved in the drug trade was also arrested, according to officials on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the defence reported that, following credible intelligence regarding narcotics trafficking near the India-Myanmar border, the Assam Rifles launched an operation in the Venglai area of Champhai district on Tuesday night.
During the operation, unusual activities were noted in the Venglai vicinity. A thorough search led to the seizure of 5.55 kg of methamphetamine tablets, a type of psychotropic substance, with an estimated international market value of Rs 16.65 crore.
