Hyderabad, Feb 3 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India has announced the notification for the elections concerning three seats each in the Legislative Councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which are set to take place on February 27.
This initiates the nomination process for elections from the graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies.
The terms for three members from the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council (comprising two from the Graduates' and one from the Teachers' constituency) along with three members from the Telangana Legislative Council (one from the Graduates' and two from the Teachers' constituencies) will conclude on March 29, 2025.
Nominations can be submitted until February 10, with scrutiny occurring the following day. February 13 is the final date to withdraw candidacies, and polling is scheduled for February 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The counting of votes is set for March 3.
The model code of conduct is already in effect in the relevant constituencies.
In Andhra Pradesh, elections will take place for the East-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur Graduates’ constituencies, as well as the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam Teachers’ constituency.
Illa Venkateswara Rao from the Progressive Democratic Front (East-West Godavari), K. S. Lakshamana Rao from the Progressive Democratic Front (Krishna-Guntur), and Pakalapati Raghu Varma, an independent (Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam), are set to retire on March 29.
In Telangana, the polling will occur for the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ constituency and the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers’ constituencies.
Currently, the Congress holds the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates' constituency, while the teachers' constituencies are represented by independents.
