New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoyed a special bond with Captain Vijayakant, the founder of the DMDK party, which went beyond the realm of politics. His wife Premallatha shared how he consistently demonstrated his friendship and provided support. In a video posted by Modi Story, a well-known social media account on X, she reminisced about significant moments and emphasized that PM Modi always stood by her husband, maintaining their friendship regardless of his political position.

“They shared a strong camaraderie. Modiji has always been like an elder brother to us,” she stated in the video.

“Modi ji referred to Captain as the Lion of Tamil Nadu. Every year, he would call to wish him on his birthday. When Captain fell ill, he reached out to me and offered all possible help, no matter where we were in the world,” she recalled.

She added that she would never forget PM Modi's kind assurance, inviting her to reach out during difficult times.

Reflecting on past experiences, she recounted, “During an event in Trichy, PM Modi spoke fondly of Captain and their relationship to a large audience. He even wrote us a heartfelt letter detailing the deep personal bond he shared with the Captain. We will always be grateful for this.”

Recalling the moment of PM Modi’s oath-taking ceremony in 2014, she mentioned, “When PM Modi was in the Central Hall taking his oath as Prime Minister for the first time, we were present. He mentioned just two names – Captain Vijayakant and Premallatha Vijayakant. That was a tremendous honor for us.”

She further stated that both she and her husband held PM Modi in the highest regard.

“We admired Modi ji for many reasons. His simplicity, humanity, and humility surpass everything, including the office he occupies,” she remarked.

It is important to note that Captain Vijayakant, a renowned Tamil actor and the founder of the DMDK party, passed away in December 2023 after a long illness. Last year, leaders from various political factions paid tribute to him on his first death anniversary.

Under Captain Vijayakant’s leadership, the DMDK party achieved its best performance in the 2011 elections, securing a significant number of contested seats.

With the state gearing up for assembly elections next year, and the BJP and AIADMK forming an electoral alliance, the stakes are higher than ever.
