He also earnestly called for bipartisan support for the Women's Reservation Bill.
During his speech, the Prime Minister praised the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government for being the first to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and highlighted its potential for pan-India adoption, asserting that 'Devbhoomi' has set a precedent.
He made a compelling argument for ensuring that women have a 33 percent representation in legislative bodies, urging all political factions in both the state and the nation to back the proposed amendments.
Modi shared that he has reached out to the nation's sisters through a letter, soliciting their interest and support, and reiterated his appeal to all “mothers and sisters” across the country to take notice of it.
Reiterating his call for political unity to realize women's reservation, he stated, “From 'Devbhoomi', I once again urge all parties to support the amendment to the Nari Shakti Vandana Act. By 2029, we will ensure that 50 percent of our nation's population secures their rights.”
He noted that a special discussion is set to take place in Parliament starting April 16, urging all political entities to join forces and “advance this work concerning the rights of the country’s sisters and daughters with unanimous consensus.”
The Prime Minister stressed that women should not experience delays in implementing reservations, declaring it should be executed immediately.
“The Lok Sabha elections will occur in 2029, followed by ongoing state Assembly elections. This must be enacted before 2029. This is the nation's sentiment. This is the aspiration of 'Nari Shakti' (women power),” he added.
Modi also commended 'Devbhoomi' for adopting the UCC, stating that its nationwide implementation aligns with the expectations outlined in our Constitution.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, spans 210 km and aims to reduce travel time to just 2.5 hours.
