Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday celebrated the strength of women, identifying it as the defining feature of a robust India. He stated that mothers, sisters, and daughters are elevating the pride of Bharatvarsha across various sectors.
In a message on X, PM Modi expressed, "The strength of our women is the defining feature of a strong India. Today, the mothers, sisters, and daughters are enhancing the pride of Bharatvarsha in every field with their unwavering determination, dedication, and spirit of service."
The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit verse, paying homage to Goddess Ambika and seeking her blessings for the nation's prosperity.
The verse stated: "We offer our respectful salutations to Ambika - revered by all deities and great sages - who, through her divine energy, permeates this entire universe and embodies the collective powers of all gods. May that mother of the universe grant us welfare." (translated from Sanskrit)
On Thursday, during a special three-day session in the Lok Sabha regarding women’s reservation and delimitation bills, the Prime Minister conveyed a powerful political message, cautioning that those who have historically resisted women’s rights often faced electoral repercussions.
He asserted that the women’s reservation law would transform the “disha and dasha” (direction and condition) of India’s political landscape by fostering greater involvement of women in governance. Highlighting its significance in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he noted that women voters have consistently “taught a lesson” to those opposing such measures.
“We are fortunate to have the chance to steer the nation’s politics in a new direction and bolster democracy,” he said, urging political entities to approach the issue without partisan bias.
The Lok Sabha is set to vote on three bills concerning women’s reservation and the formation of a delimitation commission on Friday at 4 p.m.
Earlier on Thursday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju indicated that discussions on the bills would continue for 12 hours, with the possibility of extending the duration if necessary. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla later suggested that the debate might extend to 15-18 hours to ensure all members have the opportunity to participate before the voting takes place.
