New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three frontline naval combatants -- INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer -- equipped with cutting-edge technology, to the nation during their commissioning at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The military warships INS Nilgiri and INS Surat are set to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy.

The commissioning of these three significant naval combatants signifies a crucial advancement in achieving India’s aspiration of becoming a global authority in defence manufacturing and maritime security.

INS Surat, the fourth and last vessel of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, stands as one of the largest and most advanced destroyers globally. It features state-of-the-art weapon-sensor integrations and sophisticated network-centric capabilities. It is capable of operating a variety of helicopters, including Chetak, ALH, Sea King, and the newly introduced MH-60R.

INS Nilgiri, the inaugural ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, has been crafted by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and showcases advanced attributes for improved survivability, seakeeping, and stealth, epitomizing the next generation of indigenous frigates. This warship is armed with cutting-edge weaponry and systems, such as eight BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles.

INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, exemplifies India’s expanding proficiency in submarine construction, developed in partnership with the Naval Group from France.

In a separate event, PM Modi will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an ISKCON initiative located in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. This project spans nine acres and features a temple with various deities, a Vedic education center, planned museums and an auditorium, as well as a healing center. It strives to foster universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony through Vedic teachings.
