Chandigarh, March 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, announced on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch air travel services from Hisar airport on April 14.
A successful air trial was conducted on Friday by Alliance Airlines in preparation for this initiative.
The Chief Minister provided this update in the House during the Zero Hour of the final day of the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
He expressed that it is a significant moment for Haryana as the Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar will become the state's inaugural operational airport.
The upgraded airport in Hisar is anticipated to enhance regional connectivity and offer specialized air services.
According to official sources, under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, interstate air services will commence from Hisar covering nine routes.
Upon completion of various enhancements, passengers will be able to board 48-seater aircraft.
Initially, air travel will launch with plans to utilize a 70-seater aircraft from Hisar airport to Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Kullu.
The flight routes are scheduled for a review after the first 90 days.
Depending on passenger demand, flights may expand to include other destinations such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Ambala, as stated by an official.
Officials noted that transforming Hisar into a cargo hub would accelerate development.
The government has engaged with global cargo companies through various aero summits to discuss this initiative.
Additionally, the government has encouraged companies to invest in Hisar and enhance their infrastructure, recognizing India's strategic position in Asia.
