Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, 28 July chaired a high-level meeting with Central government Secretaries at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in New Delhi, directing top bureaucrats to jointly drive a big push on economic growth, technological self-reliance, and the goals of Viksit Bharat. The meeting covered ministries and departments dealing with finance and economy, commerce and industry, and technology sectors, according to an official statement.

Modi called for intensive team building across ministries and departments, urging officers to operate with a shared sense of purpose. He stressed the need to dismantle both horizontal and vertical silos within the government so that departments function in close coordination and deliver integrated outcomes rather than fragmented results.

The Prime Minister underlined that energy security is closely interlinked with national security, economic stability, and citizens' welfare. He called for achieving self-reliance in the energy sector through innovation, diversification, and accelerated capacity creation.

Modi also flagged the growing importance of cybersecurity, stating that the expanding use of technology must be matched by robust safeguards for digital systems and infrastructure. He called for constant vigilance against emerging cyber threats and urged greater participation of young innovators and entrepreneurs in the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Workforce Skills and Institutional Reform

The Prime Minister stressed the need to reform processes, improve work culture, and strengthen institutional efficiency across government bodies. He observed that new academic courses should be planned in partnership with industry to equip the workforce with skills demanded by emerging and future industries.

Modi also emphasised proactive communication on strategic sectors where major national initiatives are under way, to counter misinformation and unfounded fears surrounding such efforts. He noted that a government must remain youthful, dynamic, and forward-looking, continuously adapting to new challenges with agility and innovation.
