Bhopal, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Monday that the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee regarding the river interlinking project has instilled fresh optimism for the state's advancement.

This declaration was made during the inauguration of a statue dedicated to Vajpayee in Morena.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Vajpayee dedicated his entire existence to the welfare of the nation.

Present at the event were State BJP President V.D. Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, who is also from Morena.

While addressing the attendees, Yadav remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed Vajpayee’s dream into reality with the initiation of the first-ever river interlinking project.

This project is specifically the Ken-Betwa river interlinking project, which PM Modi inaugurated through a 'bhoomi-pujan' during his visit to Chhatarpur on the occasion of Vajpayee's 100th birth anniversary on December 25.

The Ken-Betwa interlinking project aims to alleviate the water crisis in the drought-prone Bundelkhand region, impacting over six million residents in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Furthermore, the initiative is set to benefit approximately one million hectares of agricultural land across 2,000 villages.

Highlighting the advantages of the river interlinking initiative, Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is embarking on a new chapter of development, with the river interlinking project initiated by Vajpayee’s administration now being executed.

He remarked, "The river interlinking project will pave the way for new avenues of prosperity in the Bundelkhand region."

The state is also gearing up to address disputes with neighboring states regarding river water sharing and to revive stalled projects.

Recently, Chief Minister Yadav communicated with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis regarding the Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project.
