Madhya Pradesh CM Asserts Former PM Vajpayee's Vision for River Interlinking Will Soon Be Realized

Bhopal, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, proclaimed on Monday that the aspiration of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the interlinking of rivers under the tripartite agreement for the significant Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal link project will soon be fulfilled.

This agreement is scheduled to be signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister expressed that this long-awaited advancement, which has been stalled for over 20 years due to various factors, is finally taking definitive form.

"The consensus on this initiative could not be achieved primarily because both states were governed by different parties. Numerous discussions took place between officials from both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan," he stated.

CM Yadav further noted, "Under PM Modi's direction, all concerns have now been addressed."

He indicated that the project will serve 3,217 villages across the districts of Guna, Morena, Shivpuri, Bhind, Sheopur, Ujjain, Sehore, Mandsaur, Indore, Dhar, Agar Malwa, Shajapur, and Rajgarh in the state.

"The Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal link project will be a blessing for the farmers and residents of both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It will ensure abundant water for irrigation and unlock new avenues for development," he added.

The Chief Minister asserted that this project will usher in prosperity for both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Farmers are expected to double their production with the water provided by the project, leading to enhanced prosperity for themselves and their families, CM Yadav remarked.

He mentioned that the initiative will incur an estimated cost of around Rs 72,000 crore, with Madhya Pradesh contributing Rs 35,000 crore, Rajasthan allocating Rs 37,000 crore, and the remaining funds provided by the Centre.

The total water storage capacity of the project is projected to be 1908.83 cubic metres.

A significant 172 million cubic metres of this water will be earmarked for drinking and industrial use.

In total, 21 dams will be constructed as part of this initiative.

Following the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project, PM Modi is also slated to lay the foundation for another river interlinking initiative, the Ken-Betwa project, during his visit to Sagar on December 25, which will provide irrigation water for over 8.1 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh's Bundelkhand region and another 2.5 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh.

Last week, the Chief Minister mentioned that upon the commencement of these two projects, several major rivers within the state will also be interconnected.

He stated that PM Modi has tasked him with preparing a blueprint for this objective.
