Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Nov 3 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has introduced the 'Samadhan Yojana' in Bhopal on Monday to assist consumers burdened with electricity bills overdue by more than three months.
During the launch event, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that this scheme offers a significant relief opportunity for those unable to settle their electricity dues on time for various reasons.
"This initiative aims to not only support electricity consumers but also to fortify the overall power distribution framework of the state. It will foster enhanced public trust and transparency in governance," added the Chief Minister.
He further explained that the scheme operates on the principle of "pay early, pay in a lump sum, and reap maximum rewards".
Eligible consumers, including those from the industrial sector, with pending bills of three months can receive up to a 100 percent surcharge waiver.
The initiative will unfold in two phases.
The first phase, from November 3 to December 31, 2025, will offer a surcharge waiver ranging from 60 to 100 percent.
In the second phase, from January 1 to February 28, 2026, consumers can avail a waiver of 50 to 90 percent on the surcharge.
According to Chief Minister Yadav, under the Samadhan Yojana for 2025–26, the state government will waive over Rs 3,000 crore in surcharges on electricity bills for nearly nine million consumers.
Additionally, the government revealed that domestic and agricultural consumers can enroll in the scheme by paying 10 percent of the total outstanding amount.
Conversely, non-domestic and industrial consumers are required to deposit 25 percent of the total outstanding amount to register.
For registration, consumers should visit the distribution center or sub-divisional office, where the amount of concession and payment installments will be determined.
Post-registration, the remaining amount can be settled either in full or through installments, utilizing the payment methods accepted by electricity distribution companies.
