New Delhi, Oct 22 (NationPress) In a major development, Delhi Police successfully captured a wanted suspect, Rishabh alias Ritik alias Dancer, following a gunfight in Dwarka Sector-3, as reported by officials on Wednesday.
The individual, sought in connection with a recent murder case filed at Bindapur Police Station, was taken into custody by a collaborative team from the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka.
According to the police report, the encounter took place on October 22, after authorities received a tip-off concerning the whereabouts of the fugitive.
"Reliable information was acquired by the Anti Narcotics team in Dwarka indicating that the fugitive Rishabh @ Ritik @ Dancer would appear in the vicinity of Sector-3, Dwarka, New Delhi. In response, a raiding team was formed under the guidance of Inspector Subhash Chand, I/C ANC & Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, I/C AATS Dwarka," the statement indicated.
As the police attempted to apprehend Rishabh, he fired at the team. In a defensive measure, officers returned fire, resulting in the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound, and he was subsequently transported to Indira Gandhi Hospital for medical care.
Inspector Subhash Chand, who spearheaded the operation, also suffered injuries during the incident and is currently receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to his left arm at Venkateshwar Hospital, officials confirmed.
Rishabh is identified as the primary suspect in the murder of Kuldeep, a resident of Raja Puri, Uttam Nagar, which took place during the night of August 17-18.
Two accomplices, Pawan alias Punjabi and his associate, were apprehended earlier; however, Rishabh had evaded capture since the crime.
"After the murder, he associated with local criminals and was allegedly plotting to eliminate witnesses," police stated, drawing from intelligence data.
A sophisticated pistol, two live cartridges, and two spent cartridges were retrieved from the scene. Police have launched a separate criminal case at PS Dwarka North in relation to the gunfight.
