Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 19 (NationPress) Union Minister and former BJP President JP Nadda intensified the party's critique against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, claiming that her political journey is fundamentally "founded on deception". He further charged Banerjee with undermining the state's cultural heritage.
Nadda, who was campaigning in Jalpaiguri for the upcoming Assembly elections on April 23 and 29, expressed that he detects a significant shift in public sentiment against CM Banerjee and her administration.
"Their governance has been marred by appeasement and oppression," he stated.
Pointing to the detrimental effects on Bengal's culture, Nadda remarked, "Mamata Banerjee's entire political journey is steeped in falsehoods. She fails to comprehend how her policies have eroded Bengal's rich cultural tapestry."
He lauded the state's historical figures, including Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, for fostering positive societal changes, while accusing Banerjee of dismantling their legacies.
Nadda asserted, "Bengal was once encapsulated by the saying, 'What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow.'"
He added, "This is the land where Syama Prasad Mookerjee initiated the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Rabindranath Tagore spearheaded a cultural renaissance, and visionaries like Swami Vivekananda and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee transformed societal outlooks."
"However, all of these contributions have been jeopardized by Mamata Banerjee's governance, which is predicated on appeasement and exploitation. Alarming levels of violence against women have occurred in the state," he remarked.
Nadda further alleged that the state has become a haven for Bangladeshi infiltrators, contributing to demographic shifts.
He escalated his critique of the Trinamool Congress, stating, "Their backing of anti-national elements has endangered not only Bengal but India as a whole."
He emphasized that, with a BJP double-engine government, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code will be prioritized.
Confident in the BJP's prospects, Nadda declared, "The populace is ready to embrace the BJP and a double-engine government in Bengal."
