New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) The Navi Mumbai International Airport, which is set to launch next week, has been described as a monument crafted by countless hands and hearts, according to Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, on Wednesday.
The airport is scheduled for inauguration on October 8.
The renowned industrialist acknowledged the dedication of differently-abled colleagues, construction workers, and various staff members who contributed to the airport's development and expressed his heartfelt thanks.
“As we approach the inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8, I had the honor of meeting our differently-abled colleagues, construction workers, female staff, engineers, artisans, firefighters, and security personnel who helped turn this vision into reality,” Gautam Adani shared in a post on the social media platform X.
“I felt the essence of a living marvel - a monument crafted by countless hands and hearts.
“When millions of flights ascend into the sky and billions traverse these halls, the spirit of these individuals will resonate with every takeoff and every step - to them, I extend my profound gratitude. Jai Hind,” the Adani Group Chairman stated.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport Private is designed to serve both domestic and international travelers, featuring cutting-edge facilities.
It boasts a 3,700-metre runway capable of accommodating large commercial aircraft, modern passenger terminals, and sophisticated air traffic control systems.
It is anticipated to handle 2 crore passengers annually (MPPA), addressing the growing air traffic needs of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Western India, while enhancing India’s global connectivity.
The airport will be located 14 km from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) Sea Port, 22 km from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Taloja Industrial area, 35 km from Mumbai Port Trust (via the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link), 32 km from Thane, and 40 km from the power loom town Bhiwandi.
Additionally, the airport reached a pivotal milestone by receiving the Aerodrome Licence - crucial for commencing operations - from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday. Airlines like IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express have revealed plans to initiate operations from the airport, with initial flights connecting various domestic cities.
