New Delhi, Sep 1 (NationPress) The ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ has ignited fierce political responses from leaders of the NDA in Bihar. On Monday, several prominent ministers accused the opposition of deceiving the public, branding them as "enemies of democracy."
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha launched a vehement critique, labeling participants in the Yatra as anti-democratic.
“They are enemies of democracy,” he stated, dismissing the initiative as mere theatrics lacking substance.
In a similar vein, JD-U MP Sanjay Kumar Jha questioned the motivations behind the Yatra, remarking, “The people of Bihar are well-informed. In our Mithila region, we say, ‘Chor baaje zor se,’ which implies that the guilty often speak the loudest.”
Minister Ashok Choudhary expressed skepticism regarding the campaign's political ramifications.
“Attracting crowds during roadshows and translating that into votes are entirely different matters. As long as Congress is allied with RJD, they have no future in Bihar,” he asserted.
Minister Shravan Kumar criticized the opposition's narrative while defending the Election Commission’s initiatives to clean up voter rolls.
“This ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is driven by calculated political objectives. Their standing has significantly eroded... If the Election Commission is removing the names of deceased individuals, what’s the issue?” he questioned.
RLD leader Malook Nagar went further, predicting the downfall of the opposition’s momentum.
“The events of Uttar Pradesh in 2017 will be mirrored in Bihar. Their momentum will entirely collapse. This Yatra will signify the end of the INDI Alliance,” he claimed.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by opposition factions under the INDIA Alliance banner, seeks to spotlight alleged irregularities in voter lists and demand transparency from the Election Commission.
Scheduled to conclude in Patna on Sunday, the Yatra will feature a symbolic padyatra (foot march) at Gandhi Maidan, attracting party supporters and civil society representatives.
While the opposition portrays it as a grassroots initiative to safeguard electoral rights, the BJP and its NDA allies have dismissed it as a political maneuver aimed at regaining lost ground ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
