Bengaluru, April 8 (NationPress) A special tribunal of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found four Bangladeshi nationals guilty and sentenced them in connection with a transnational human trafficking operation, according to an official announcement made on Wednesday.
The NIA Special Court in Bengaluru has handed down a sentence of three years of rigorous imprisonment to Zakir Khan, Badal Houladar, Kabir Talukdar, and Mohammed Bachchu Gharami.
Additionally, the court has levied a fine of Rs 20,000 against each convict, with an extra month of imprisonment in the event of non-payment, as per the stipulations of the Foreigners Act and the Passports (Entry into India) Act.
Investigations revealed that the accused had illegally crossed into India from Bangladesh through border points such as Benapole, Jashore, and Akhaura. They subsequently fraudulently acquired Indian identity documents and were involved in a waste segregation business on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
