Noida International Airport Set to Enhance Connectivity: PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) After the inaugural flight touched down at Noida International Airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Monday that the forthcoming international airport will enhance connectivity for the NCR and Uttar Pradesh.

“The forthcoming Noida International Airport will improve connectivity and Ease of Living for the NCR and Uttar Pradesh. Our Government is dedicated to implementing numerous initiatives to ensure top-notch infrastructure for the citizens and capitalize on the advantages of connectivity to foster prosperity,” the Prime Minister stated on X.

On Monday, the Noida International Airport located in Greater Noida marked a significant milestone as its first flight landed, amid ongoing trials, receiving a ceremonial water cannon salute.

The trial flight, arriving from Delhi at 1:30 p.m., was carrying officials from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and technical experts. This event was a vital step in assessing the airport's preparedness.

The onboard team collected extensive technical data during the take-off, flight, and landing phases to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

During the trial, the aircraft completed a 15-minute flight before landing on the 3,900-metre runway at Jewar. Following a brief 5-minute stop, the plane took off once again. The gathered data will be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for further evaluation.

Trial operations are scheduled to continue until December 15.

The first commercial flight from the airport is anticipated to commence in April 2025.

Approximately 85% of the airport's construction is finalized. Advanced systems such as CAT-1 and CAT-3 Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), which enhance aircraft visibility during foggy conditions, have been installed and tested as of October.

The 3.9 km runway work has been fully completed. The terminal building is nearing completion, with roof finishing and equipment installation currently underway. A fully operational 38-metre-high Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower is also in place.

Managed by Zurich International Airport AG, the Noida International Airport will operate under a management contract for 40 years. Once operational in April, it is projected to handle 65 flights per day, including 62 domestic, 2 international, and one cargo flight, serving approximately 12 million passengers annually. Upon completion, the airport will rank as the fourth largest in Asia.
