New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) On March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Phase I of the Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh, a groundbreaking infrastructure initiative with an estimated investment of Rs 11,200 crore.

Upon arrival in Jewar, located in Gautam Buddha Nagar, the Prime Minister will conduct a walkthrough of the terminal building around 11:30 a.m., leading to the official inauguration at noon. He is also scheduled to address a public assembly during this momentous event.

The launch of the Noida International Airport symbolizes a crucial step in India’s ambition to emerge as a global aviation center. Designed as a pivotal international entry point for the National Capital Region (NCR), this airport aims to enhance both domestic and global connectivity, thus fortifying the nation’s aviation framework.

This new airport serves as the second international terminal for the Delhi-NCR area, working in conjunction with the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport. Together, these two airports are anticipated to form a cohesive aviation network that alleviates congestion, boosts passenger capacity, and elevates the region to a top-tier global aviation destination.

Recognized as one of the largest greenfield airport projects in India, Phase I of Noida International Airport involves an investment of approximately Rs 11,200 crore through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Initially, it will cater to a capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), with the potential to scale up to 70 MPPA upon full operational capacity. The airport boasts a 3,900-meter runway that supports wide-body aircraft, along with advanced navigation technology, including an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and sophisticated airfield lighting to facilitate efficient operations in all weather conditions.

Moreover, the airport is equipped with a comprehensive cargo infrastructure, featuring a multi-modal cargo hub with an integrated terminal and dedicated logistics zones. The cargo facilities are designed to manage over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, with expansion capabilities to approximately 18 lakh metric tonnes. It also includes a 40-acre Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.

As a forward-thinking and environmentally sustainable project, the airport aims to function as a net-zero emissions facility, implementing energy-efficient technologies and eco-friendly practices. Its architectural design draws inspiration from Indian heritage, featuring elements reminiscent of traditional ghats and havelis, seamlessly integrating cultural aesthetics with modern infrastructure.

Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, Noida International Airport is envisioned as a multi-modal transport hub, ensuring seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems for both passengers and cargo.
