Bhubaneswar, July 25 (NationPress) In a significant move to enhance its clean energy initiatives, the Odisha government has sanctioned renewable energy projects totaling 178 MW in capacity, with an anticipated investment of Rs 869.8 crore.
This decision was made during the 12th meeting of the Single Window Committee (SWC), which took place on July 24, 2025, presided over by Vishal Kumar Dev, the Principal Secretary of the Energy Department in Odisha.
Key officials present included the Managing Director of GRIDCO, Directors from GRIDCO and OHPC, EIC (Electricity)-cum-PCEI, along with other senior committee members.
Project proposals were submitted by the Chief Project Manager of the Renewable Energy Nodal Agency (RENA) and were carefully reviewed before receiving SWC approval.
As per an official announcement from the state Energy department, among the sanctioned projects is a 69.5 MW solar park to be established by Prozeal Green Energy Limited at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district. INOX Solar Limited has been authorized to implement a 49.5 MW solar project at Telkoi in Keonjhar district, while Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has secured approval for a 10 MW solar project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda.
Furthermore, NLC India Renewables Limited will initiate a wind power project in Papadahandi, located in Nabarangpur district. Collectively, these initiatives represent 128.5 MW of solar and 49.5 MW of wind energy capacity.
“With these new projects, the overall renewable energy capacity sanctioned by the Single Window Committee has now reached 1,844.86 MW, attracting total investment commitments of Rs 12,599.79 crore. This is a remarkable milestone in Odisha’s clean energy journey and showcases the state government’s commitment to promoting business-friendly practices in the renewable sector,” stated the department.
Moreover, official sources highlighted that these projects align with Odisha’s aspirations to meet its Renewable Purchase Obligations and contribute to India’s climate objectives while simultaneously fostering local employment and enhancing infrastructure in the targeted districts.
