One deceased, three injured in police shooting during youth clash in Sasaram

Patna, Dec 28 (NationPress) One individual lost his life, and three others were injured during a confrontation between a group of individuals and a traffic police team in Bihar's Rohtas district.
The individual who died has been identified as Badal Kumar (34), while his friends Atul Kumar and Vinod Kumar were wounded in this incident.
According to the family of the deceased, Badal and his friends were celebrating a birthday when the Traffic DSP and his team arrived at Karraha Mor in Sasaram. They allegedly harassed those attending the celebration prior to the incident.
“Traffic DSP Adil Bilal and his bodyguard reportedly demanded money from the youths at the gathering, and when they resisted, tensions escalated. This led to a confrontation followed by shots fired by the police unit. DSP Adil Bilal is accused of firing at them, resulting in Badal suffering a gunshot wound to his chest, with others also sustaining injuries from gunfire,” stated the brother of the deceased.
The brother of the victim specifically accused the traffic DSP and his bodyguard of being responsible for the gunfire.
Meanwhile, Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar informed IANS that approximately 20 individuals were participating in a liquor party, which is illegal in the state.
The conflict arose when the traffic DSP and accompanying police personnel intervened, resulting in a clash with the group.
“We have confiscated liquor bottles and over 10 motorcycles from the scene. The district police are utilizing investigative resources such as CCTV footage, witness statements including that of an injured Constable, and forensic techniques to determine the sequence of events.
“We are attempting to locate individuals who were present at the party, as they can provide clarity regarding the actual sequence of events,” Kumar mentioned.
“We have filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) following complaints from both the deceased's brother and the police. A death has resulted from this incident, and we await the postmortem report, which will clarify the nature of the bullet wounds that caused the deceased's injuries,” Kumar added.
This incident highlights the critical importance of complying with local laws and the difficulties law enforcement agencies encounter when addressing such infractions.
