Jammu, May 2 (NationPress) The Pakistan Army has engaged in unprovoked small arms fire against Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the eighth consecutive day as of Friday.
The Defence Ministry's statement on Friday indicated, "During the night of May 1 and May 2, the Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire from locations across the LoC opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor areas within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir."

Beyond the LoC, the Pakistan Army has also breached the ceasefire along the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Jammu on Thursday.
Tensions have escalated between the two nations following the tragic killing of 26 innocent civilians, including 25 tourists and one local individual, by Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists backed by Pakistan on April 22 in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam.
The nation expressed its outrage over this heinous act, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi declaring in his immediate response to the Pahalgam killings that those responsible, including the terrorists and their backers, would be pursued relentlessly.
The Prime Minister has authorized the Armed Forces of the country to take decisive action against the Pahalgam massacre, allowing them to determine the timing, targets, and scale of their response to eliminate the terrorists.
On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a 40-minute meeting with the Prime Minister after receiving a detailed briefing from the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) concerning the preparedness of the armed forces for any potential scenarios.
Recently, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha convened a security review meeting with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in Srinagar.
