Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 30 (NationPress) Lok Sabha MP from Purnea, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, has vehemently criticized the Union government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), labeling the Supreme Court's stay on the University Grants Commission's new regulations and the recent aviation tragedies in Maharashtra as significant lapses in social justice and security.
At a media briefing on Thursday at Patna airport, Pappu Yadav expressed his support for the Supreme Court's decision to halt the UGC's Promotion of Equity Regulations, 2026, accusing the BJP and its affiliates of perpetuating divisive politics. "Respect for the Supreme Court is crucial, but what actions is the government taking? The essence of the BJP is to fracture society," he remarked.
He insisted that no legislation should be interpreted through a narrow caste perspective, stressing that merit and equality are fundamental rights for all children, regardless of their caste or community.
"Whether a child is Yadav, Kushwaha, or from any other community, everyone is entitled to equal rights and opportunities," asserted Pappu Yadav.
The Purnea MP also raised grave concerns about the chartered plane crash that occurred in Baramati, Maharashtra, which resulted in the tragic death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
He dismissed the incident as a mere accident and has called for a CBI investigation.
"Why do prominent leaders and VIPs keep falling victim to crashes? First, Gopinath Munde in a car crash, then General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash, and now this. Why are these incidents always downplayed?" he queried.
Expressing solidarity with similar concerns voiced by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Pappu Yadav emphasized the need to explore whether any conspiracy lies behind such aviation disasters.
Furthermore, he criticized the Union government for its handling of the NEET controversy and other administrative shortcomings, alleging that corruption and a powerful network of middlemen have undermined the education system.
"A massive syndicate is jeopardizing children's futures, and instead of taking action, the government remains silent," he claimed.
When questioned about internal matters within the Congress party and local political dynamics, Pappu Yadav humorously deflected, saying: "Have I taken on the responsibility of the Congress party now?"
