Patna RTO Discovers Regulatory Breaches In Luxury Vanity Van Utilized By Prashant Kishor During Protest

Patna, Jan 9 (NationPress) As Jan Suraaj Party Chief Prashant Kishor persists in his hunger strike at the hospital, a debate has arisen concerning the legality of his luxury vanity van, which has been scrutinized for violations of transport regulations by the Patna Regional Transport Office, officials disclosed.
The vanity van was stationed at the protest site in Gandhi Maidan, Patna, utilized by Kishor and others during the hunger strike.
The Patna RTO has pinpointed inconsistencies in the vehicle's registration details and chassis number.
Pinku Kumar, the Additional District Transport Officer, noted that the chassis number seems to have been altered and has recommended a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examination.
"The vehicle, registered in Punjab's Sangrur district with the number PB13AY9000, was discovered to be used commercially despite its registration as a private motor tax vehicle. Modifications such as air conditioning, a bed, a sofa, a bathroom, and video LCD systems were not officially recorded or updated," Kumar stated.
The van’s 4,500-mm wheelbase qualifies it for registration as a deluxe category vehicle with a seating capacity for 25.
However, it has been incorrectly registered as a light motor vehicle with a single seating capacity.
The vehicle's road tax details are not available online, raising concerns regarding compliance.
The van is registered under the name of Awadhesh Paswan, a resident of Purnea district in Bihar.
"The vanity van is illegal on ten parameters, and the vehicle has been seized and stored at the Patna District Transport Office," Kumar added.
Despite the growing controversy, Kishor remains dedicated to his protest against alleged irregularities in the BPSC exam. He was hospitalized at Medanta Hospital in Patna due to infection, dehydration, weakness, and restlessness following days of fasting.
Previously, Kishor was arrested at Gandhi Maidan while staging the hunger strike before being taken to the hospital.
Manoj Kumar Bharti, acting President of the Jan Suraaj Party, minimized the importance of the vanity van controversy, stressing that the core issue is the suffering of BPSC candidates.
Bharti criticized political rivals for concentrating on Kishor's personal affairs instead of engaging in substantial efforts, like staging a satyagraha in solidarity with the protesting BPSC students.
