Patna, Jan 17 (NationPress) Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey mocked political strategist and Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor, claiming he is mentally weak and in need of treatment.
Criticizing Kishor, who staged a protest demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams, the Health Minister described his hunger strike as a publicity stunt.
As the Health Minister of Bihar, I affirm with utmost responsibility that Kishor requires a mental health evaluation. We have a reputable mental health facility in Koilwar. I invite him to visit and I will accompany him there,” Pandey stated.
He further remarked that while Kishor may be adept at creating slogans, he lacks genuine leadership skills.
Kishor metaphorically concluded his fast by consuming a banana on Thursday.
Despite ending his fast, Kishor has declared intentions for further protests, including the establishment of a “tent city” at LCT Ghat in Patna.
Initially, the district administration prohibited the setup, but later authorized a temporary camp.
The tent city has since been created and serves as the operational base for his party.
Political adversaries, encompassing members from both the ruling and opposition factions, have criticized Kishor, labeling his actions as mere publicity stunts.
Kishor initiated a hunger strike demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam due to alleged irregularities.
The Jan Suraaj founder, who was detained for protesting in the restricted zone of Gandhi Maidan, was released on bail on January 7, with the entire episode attracting substantial media coverage.
Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, famously known as Pappu Yadav, has pursued legal actions against the alleged irregularities in the BPSC exams by filing three distinct petitions in the Patna High Court.
Significantly, the BPSC exam conducted on December 13 at 912 centers statewide faced accusations of malpractice, particularly following irregularities at the Bapu Centre in Kumhrar, Patna.
In reaction, the BPSC annulled the examination for that specific center and conducted a re-examination on January 4.
Nevertheless, the protesting candidates are demanding the cancellation of the exam across all centers, citing systemic flaws.
