The theme of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 is “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain.” This initiative aims to encourage collaboration and innovation in the automotive and mobility industries, focusing on sustainable and advanced technological developments.
According to a government press release, the expo seeks to bring together the entire mobility value chain under one roof. As India's premier global mobility exhibition, this year marks the second edition, which serves as a platform for the future of mobility.
This year's event will place a special emphasis on its global relevance, featuring participants from around the world as exhibitors and attendees. It is an initiative led by the industry and supported by the government, coordinated by the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India in collaboration with various industry bodies and partner organizations.
During last year's inauguration, PM Modi expressed pride in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo for showcasing India's prowess and innovation in the automotive sector.
He also mentioned, “We are allocating Rs 1 lakh crore to research and innovation in the mobility sector and increasing tax exemptions for startups to create new opportunities.”
In 2024, automobile sales in India witnessed a significant increase of 11.6 percent, reaching a record high of 2.5 crore units, compared to 2.3 crore units the previous year, based on data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
This growth solidified India's position as the world's third-largest car market last year.
The surge was mainly driven by the two-wheeler segment, which saw a 14.5 percent increase in 2024, with sales totaling 1.95 crore units. Additionally, passenger vehicles and three-wheelers achieved their highest sales figures ever in a calendar year.
According to SIAM data, the October-December quarter recorded the highest growth for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and three-wheelers.
