New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for states to be motivated in meeting their budgetary obligations, advocating for enhanced budget allocations at the district level to achieve maximum effectiveness.

He stated, "Following the budget announcement, it is crucial for the nation to fully utilize its potential, and your contributions during this webinar are vital to achieving this aim," he pointed out.

Highlighting several initiatives such as the 'PM Kisan Samman Nidhi' and reforms in the Minimum Support Price (MSP), he noted that these measures provide farmers with returns of 1.5 times.

Furthermore, he shared that 10 crore farmers have benefited from over Rs 4 lakh crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, while nearly Rs 2 lakh crore has been disbursed in insurance claims through the 'PM Fasal Bima Yojana'.

Additionally, PM Modi mentioned that institutional credit coverage has surpassed 75 percent.

He asserted, "These various initiatives have mitigated risks for farmers, offering them essential economic stability."

By underscoring the renewed focus in this year’s Union Budget, PM Modi expressed his optimism that the discussions from the webinar would expedite the execution of budget provisions.

Focusing on high-value agriculture, the Prime Minister elaborated on budget proposals aimed at region-specific cultivation of crops such as cocoa, cashew, and sandalwood.

He also pointed out the budget's emphasis on promoting agarwood in the northeastern regions and temperate nut crops in the Himalayan states.

He highlighted that production aimed at exports could create rural employment opportunities through processing and value addition. "Collaboratively scaling high-value agriculture can transform this sector into a globally competitive industry," he stated.

As the world's second-largest fish producer, PM Modi noted that while around 4.5 lakh tonnes of fish are currently harvested from various reservoirs and ponds, there remains the potential for an additional 20 lakh tonnes of production.

"Fisheries could serve as a significant avenue for export growth," he remarked.

India stands as the largest milk producer globally and ranks second in egg production.
