Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, March 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) initiative has developed into a vital source of social security for small farmers nationwide, while also accusing the Congress party of disseminating falsehoods regarding the program's inception.
Speaking at a public gathering in Khanapara, Guwahati, he remarked, “When the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was introduced, the Congress party propagated rumors asserting that although financial aid was being provided by Prime Minister Modi, beneficiaries would need to repay the funds after elections. They have become adept at misinformation.”
He emphasized that notwithstanding these claims, the scheme has turned into an essential support framework for the nation’s small farmers.
Highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing direct financial aid to farmers, Modi noted that the most recent installment of the PM-Kisan funds has just been credited to the accounts of millions of farmers across India.
“Moments ago, a notification reached the accounts of countless farmers indicating that the PM Samman Nidhi funds have been deposited,” he stated.
Modi pointed out that many beneficiaries lacked bank accounts or mobile phones prior to 2014, but now they are receiving financial support directly thanks to the government's digital and banking systems.
“Over ₹4.20 lakh crore has been deposited into the accounts of millions of farmers to date,” he added.
On the same day, PM Modi also announced that numerous families associated with Assam’s tea estates have received land titles.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and sent his best wishes to the people of Assam, tea garden workers, and farmers across the nation.
