Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all state administrations on Monday to enforce stringent measures against those trying to take advantage of the current global energy crisis through black marketing and the hoarding of gas cylinders.
This appeal follows a surge in cases of black marketing and hoarding of LPG across the country, spurred by reports of the international crisis.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced that as of Saturday, over 3,500 raids were executed, leading to the confiscation of more than 1,200 gas cylinders in various states, including Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
During a session in the Lok Sabha regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia, PM Modi stated, "In times of crisis, certain individuals attempt to exploit the situation. Therefore, all relevant agencies have been put on high alert. Security measures covering coastal, border, and cybersecurity, as well as strategic installations, are being enhanced."
Reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Modi emphasized the need for the nation to approach the current scenario with a similar resolve.
"The repercussions of this war may lead to prolonged challenges globally. We must prepare ourselves and stand united. We have tackled similar adversities with solidarity during the pandemic, and we must do so again. Patience, restraint, and a composed mindset are essential for overcoming every obstacle. This unity is our identity and strength," he remarked.
Addressing the state governments, he added, "We need to be vigilant. Those who wish to exploit this situation will attempt to spread falsehoods. Such endeavors must be thwarted."
"I appeal to all state governments through this assembly. It is during crises that black marketing and hoarding become prevalent. Vigilant monitoring is crucial. Swift action should be taken wherever complaints arise," he urged.
"If every government and citizen collaborates, we can surmount any challenge," he concluded.
