PM Modi to Unveil Over Rs 47,600 Crore Development Projects in Assam

Guwahati, March 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam on Friday, embarking on a significant series of initiatives throughout the state. Over the course of his two-day visit, he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay foundation stones for numerous development projects totaling over Rs 47,600 crore across Kokrajhar, Guwahati, and Silchar.
Among the highlights, the Prime Minister will perform Bhoomi Poojan for the Assam Mala 3.0 project, a substantial road infrastructure endeavor valued at more than Rs 3,200 crore, aimed at constructing over 900 kilometres of roads throughout Assam. This initiative is designed to enhance inter-state connectivity and strengthen the links between national highways and rural roads.
Furthermore, PM Modi will also perform Bhoomi Poojan for six infrastructure projects in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area, which encompass four flyovers and two bridges, with an investment of approximately Rs 1,100 crore.
He will additionally lay the foundation stone for a Periodic Overhauling (POH) Workshop at Bashbari in the Kokrajhar district. This workshop is expected to bolster railway maintenance capabilities, boost operational efficiency, and generate job opportunities in the locality.
To improve connectivity in Assam and the wider Northeast region, PM Modi will flag off three new train services, including the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express linking the Northeast and Southern India, the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Express enhancing links with West Bengal, and the Narangi-Agartala Express facilitating travel between Assam and Tripura.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will distribute land pattas to tea garden workers in Guwahati, marking a pivotal moment in granting land rights to the tea garden community. He will also release the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, benefiting over 9.3 crore farmers nationwide with direct transfers of Rs 2,000 into their bank accounts.
Moreover, PM Modi will dedicate the Kopili Hydro-Electric Project located in Dima Hasao and West Karbi Anglong, which has been constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 2,300 crore. This project aims to elevate clean energy production, enhance grid stability, and ensure a reliable power supply for households, farmers, and industries.
The Prime Minister will also unveil major railway electrification projects, including the Rangiya-Murkongselek rail line electrification (558 km) at a cost of about Rs 420 crore, the Chaparmukh-Dibrugarh rail line electrification (571 km) at around Rs 1,180 crore, and the Badarpur-Silchar and Badarpur-Churaibari rail lines, costing approximately Rs 650 crore. These initiatives will enable quicker, energy-efficient, and sustainable train operations, while improving connectivity across the Brahmaputra and Barak Valley regions.
PM Modi will also lay the groundwork for the Furkating-Tinsukia rail line doubling project (194 km) at a cost exceeding Rs 3,600 crore, which will enhance line capacity and facilitate the operation of additional passenger and freight trains.
In the waterways sector, the Prime Minister will initiate the foundation for cruise terminals at Bishwanath Ghat in Biswanath district and Neamati in Jorhat district.
He will also perform Bhoomi Poojan for the Regional Centre of Excellence (RCoE) at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh, which is set to become a premier maritime training and research facility for the Northeast.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the access road linking Pandu Jetty to NH-27 and the PM Ekta Mall in Guwahati. This mall is envisioned as a significant commercial and tourism center for Assam and the Northeast, featuring dedicated stalls for One District One Product (ODOP) items, GI-tagged products, handicrafts, and handloom goods from Assam and other states.
